There’s a big difference.
Recycling is good for the environment. But when it comes to making new products with recycled materials, it has its limitations. For example, the process of rescuing tires from landfills and simply reusing the rubber can only yield a new product of equal and often lesser quality.
Upcycling is really, really good because it not only takes tires out of landfills, it creates APX®: The world’s first 100% virgin rubber substitute – Unlike other recycled rubber, APX® is not of equal quality to the tires it’s made from. It’s way better. It offers higher slip resistance, it’s light-weight and it’s longer lasting.
Every Tredagain contains 50% upcycled APX®. Other recycled shoes contain 5% tire rubber at best.
Because the mission here at Tredagain is to create amazing shoes that give you the power to leave a better footprint.
